The problems facing the island of Jamaica are both well documented and well known. The country has the highest murder rate per capita in the Western hemisphere and is ranked third in the world. Socially, 85% of the country’s births are to single parents. Less than 5% of the students have access to tertiary education. The dilemma is clear. The Caribbean Choice for Christ believes that once the cause is identified, the solution becomes visible. Governments throughout the Caribbean have spent millions, even billions, of dollars trying to find the roots to the array of societal problems with the hopes of developing resolutions. Yet the plight not only continues, it worsens.

Primary Cause

The Caribbean Choice for Christ believes that the cause lies within each individual and the choices that they make. Although living daily in the pressure of the poverty-stricken ghetto while struggling to meet financial, personal and spiritual needs can be totally debilitating, there are individuals who are making the right choices in the midst of hopelessness. Therefore, the environment alone cannot carry the blame. The root of the dilemma is a flawed value system that has been embraced by the culture.
